A camper trailer full of kids!

 
When families go on holiday, they do so to make memories. The best times that your kids will remember are when they were able to be free. Hotels are great if you don't like roughing it but if you really want to get back to nature then consider taking away a camper trailer for your next getaway. You might hear a few groans because it's new or different but you'll be surprised when the kids find out how much they can enjoy themselves on a camping trip.

Camping is a great way to reconnect with your family. If it seems like everybody is going in different directions, camping has a way of allowing family members to help each other out. You might find out some interesting stuff about your kids when you get them away from the TV or MP3 player. There are some standard equipment items that you'll need to make sure everybody is comfortable.

If you are not used to setting a tent up, a good suggestion is a camper trailer. It's already set up with everything packed inside so you can save time and allow your family to enjoy camping even more. If you arrive late somewhere then setting up is a breeze, you don't have to sacrifice comfort just to enjoy the outdoors.

Depending on the ages of your kids its best to plan for what to do while you are away from familiars. Leave the handheld games at home and opt for some colouring books, crosswords and Sudoku puzzles. You will have a lot of free time on your hands and instead of filling it with boring mind-numbing things you should use it as a time to challenge your kids. Board games are always fun, if you have a family game night at home then you know what everybody likes to play. Bring those games so you can enjoy your time with the kids.

Older kids might not want to sit around and play board games or read, younger kids are born explorers so bring along some gathering items: With plastic bags or containers that you don't mind getting dirty, let them explore the world around them. They might find out all about bugs and plants. With older kids you can do some hiking and exploring; exercise outdoors can be invigorating so take advantage of the clean air.

Food is important, think of easy meals to prepare. A good quality camping trailer will have a built in kitchen where you can cook.  Opt for healthy snacks and bring plenty of water. You'll find that kids snack more and consume more water because they are more mobile than at home.

The whole idea behind camping is to enjoy your time as a family. Once you have tried it a couple of times, your kids will really start to look forward to the next time. Let them help plan your next camping trip; it will help them to understand that family vacations should be fun for everybody.
