DeSIGNa total graphics is a quality sign design and production business based at Glenview on the beautiful Sunshine Coast in Queensland.
deSIGNa is about creating trusted, supportive relationships with its clients through quality results, attention to customers requirements and clever and innovative advice and design to embrace those needs.

With in excess of 20 years in the Sign Industry, deSIGNa’s owner is GEOFF STEPHENS. Geoff began his industry involvement by attending Art College in Melbourne to train as a brush SHOWCARD WRITER and SIGN WRITER.  His first industry employment was with prominent Melbourne companies – Mal Jones Displays and Heath Signs and Display.

With the computerisation of the graphics industry, Ticket-writing and Showcard-writing were the areas of signage first affected. This bought Geoff to a crossroad, to embrace the new technology or to tough out the industry by retaining ageing techniques. Geoff chose to take on the technology challenge, regardless of the fact that he had never turned a computer on. He was trained in the operation of computer based sign making equipment in the early 1980’s and has maintained his involvement with computer based sign design and production since that time.

“At the point of introduction of computers into the sign workshop, the Advertising Industry went down the Mac road and the Sign Industry ventured down the PC line. As a result of this I work primarily through PC based programs - Corel Draw is my work-horse and I make use of Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign as required”.

Working in such programs – and at one stage, as Graphics Centre manager for a major retail copy centre:  Geoff now uses these skills to produce more refined graphics. “Quite often I have people asking me to create a new logo (image) for them – and consequentially I put together all of their original designs, print matter, business cards, letterhead, with Comp’s slips, order books, envelopes etc.  That image is then projected forward to include shopfront – showroom – vehicle – billboard etc.  As a result his company can easily maintain a consistency of image essential to today’s marketing environment. Add to that, the fact that it can all be done through one business, and you have an “ease of use” that is extremely convenient and hassle free.

Geoff Stephens has lived through the evolution from hand based to computer based sign-making processes. He is highly voiced in the use of suitable materials and techniques to best suit your situation. “I quite often spend time with people brain-storming on what is their best approach to achieve maximum results from their project. My approach is to target my client’s long term goals. Some people have a set plan of what they want/need, others are looking for my input and the best creative option, either way is fine for me to work with. I love the creative process and seeing my client’s response to the concepts that we create through artistic collaboration”.
