Glass House Mountains National Park
The remarkable Glass House Mountains are a series of steep-sided volcanic plugs which dominate the landscape of the Sunshine Coast hinterland. They are formed of rhyolite and trachtyte, lavas which hardened inside the vents of tertiary volcanoes that have been greatly reduced by about 25 million years of erosion. |

This 380 hectare lake was completed in 1989 and is the main water supply for Caloundra and Maroochydore. Swimming, fishing, sailing and canoeing are all allowed on the lake.
The Dam wall and spillway is accessed from Western Avenue at the southern entrance to Montville. The lakeside picnic area has barbecues, toilets, and a playground. There are viewing platforms, barbecues and toilets near the spillway. A 2.4klm walking circuit leads from the car park below the spillway into the Obi Obi Gorge along a cool rainforest trail.
Deep in the valley behind the dam wall at Lake Baroon is Obi Obi National Park. The Obi Obi Creek flows from headwaters south west of Maleny through the township and into Lake Baroon. It continues its journey over waterfalls and rapids into the Mary River near Kenilworth. The park became linked to Kondalilla NP in 1988.
