Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve

Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve near the southern entrance to the Range is 52 hectares (130 acres) of rainforest which is held in trust by Caloundra City Council for the people of the Blackall Range. The reserve gives shelter to many species of wildlife - an indication of the amazing range of native fauna which lived in the rainforests of the area before the sounds of the settlers' axes mingled with the crack of the Whipbird and the plaintive cry of the Green Catbird.

At the reserve there are picnic tables and barbecues, a children's playground, toilets, a kiosk and Ranger. The Thynne Natural History Education Centre, at the entrance to 1.7klms of rainforest walking tracks including wheelchair access and tree identification, is open daily.
